Fellowship in Healthcare Entrepreneurship
Hemant Shinde (NIRMAN 3) has recently joined a fellowship program at Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship, IIT Hyderabad. He is telling us about the program and his decision…
The aim of the program is to find indigenous solutions to healthcare problems in India. The idea is to bring likeminded people together to build a medical device start-up.
The program is based on the Stanford Biodesign Fellowship. Its uniqueness lies in the mentorship support available from industry, IIT faculty, Stanford Biodesign fellows, and from the faculty engaged from Stanford.
Native of Sangli district, Hemant is a computer engineer by education. When asked about his thought process he said, “I had an inclination towards entrepreneurship for the greater impact. I was searching for an opportunity to experiment in healthcare space. However, I didn't have any background in healthcare. The program offered immersion process and the aim of the program ‘Better Healthcare for Indians’ resonated with me. In last few years, I had experienced quite a few cases of victims of Indian healthcare, and I see this as an opportunity to join the hands with many of us who are working towards the change.”
If anybody is interested in Medical devices, or healthcare entrepreneurship, this is a very good platform to brainstorm and gather ideas, spend time on your prototype and possibly start your own venture.
